The Gerbera Daisy, one of the most popular florist flowers, originated from South Africa and is part of the Asteraceae family, along with sunflowers and other daisies. In general daisies are often associated with innocence, purity and beauty. Specifically the gerbera daisy symbolizes cheerfulness.

Gerbera flowers are bright and long lasting with large, soft veined leaves (15cm). Colors range from white, yellow, shades of pink, orange, purple and red. Gerbera Daisys can reach a height of 60cm, with dwarf varieties reaching 15 - 30cm.

Gerberas must be watered thoroughly and can take bright light to full sunlight. Flowers should be kept at a cool to average temperature of around 55 - 75°F.
